This Bromo-Ijen Photography Tour has got to be the most unforgettable trips of my life. I had an absolutely fabulous time, thanks to all the wonderful people who turned this dream trip into a reality. The attractions did not disappoint at all, but what really impressed me was the way Go Adventure went all out to make sure that we got what we came for. Raining heavily on the first evening of our arrival in Probolinggo? Planned sunset shot out of the question? No problem. Our efficient guide Fiqi brought us to a wooden hut in the middle of an onion field, introduced us to the two ladies living there. I was embarrassed at leaving wet shoe prints all over their floor. They not only offered their home as shelter from the storm, but allowed us to take photographs as well as posed for us. And then there were those uphill motorbike rides across the narrow, unpaved jungle trails to catch a Bromo sunrise from the top of a cliff; driving in a 4WD across an unending Sea of Sand surrounded by mountains and foothills from all sides, as well as walking in clear, ankle-deep water in a cavern to reach the waterfall. It’s also unlikely that the chance to sit with complete strangers round a coal stove on a cold, dark October evening lit only by stars from the Milky Way will come my way again.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone involved who went beyond their call of duty and displayed great professionalism and dedication to make this photo trip a very enjoyable, memorable and safe one for us.
Special mention goes to Fiqi who made all this possible and Antonio, who kept me focused and motivated throughout the hike up Ijen Crater with “Just 200 metres more to go. You can do it!”
